Overview
Togakushi is a charming resort nestled at the base of the dramatic Togakushi Mountain, just an hour's bus ride from Nagano city. The resort offers 19 courses served by 7 lifts, with terrain ranging from gentle beginners' slopes to exciting expert runs with views of the towering Togakushi rock face. At 1,200m to 1,748m elevation, the high base ensures reliable snow conditions and cool temperatures throughout the season.
What makes Togakushi truly special is its cultural setting. The ancient Togakushi Shrine, one of Japan's most important Shinto shrines, is located nearby, and the area is famous for its handmade soba noodles. The resort attracts a predominantly local crowd, offering an authentic Japanese ski experience away from the international tourist circuit. Tree skiing through the surrounding cedar and birch forests is a highlight for adventurous skiers.
